Housing

Safe Homes Empower Communities

Our housing initiatives provide safe, affordable, and dignified homes for farmworkers and their families. By addressing critical housing needs, we help create stable communities where farmworkers can thrive.

Statistics

Farmworkers are the backbone of our food system, yet many face severe housing challenges that impact their well-being and stability.

>30%

Overcrowding

Around 30-50% of farmworker households experience overcrowded living conditions, often sharing small, substandard spaces.

50%

High Rental Burden

Many farmworkers spend more than 50% of their income on rent, making stable housing unaffordable.

<20%

Limited Homeownership

Fewer than 20% of farmworkers own their homes, compared to a national homeownership rate of over 65%.

This pilot program aims to increase the supply of affordable, high-quality, sustainable housing specifically for farmworkers in Contra Costa and San Joaquin Counties, regardless of immigration status.
